We are happy to provide a quote to assist in budgets for project proposals.
If we are a listed supplier to your institution, generally speaking, we provide a quote based on the information given, if the quote is accepted then you will request a PO be raised for the work.
Once work is completed, and you are happy, we'll invoice the accounts department referencing the PO number. Payment is via BACs.
For project quotes where contracts are drawn up in advance of any interviewing, please take into account the likelihood of variability in the quality of recordings, and whether there may be accents more difficult to understand.
We accept all recording formats, and our WeTransfer upload service can transer 200GB at a time.
We have a standard Word template which we work from, set up with clear margins and easy-to-read spacing. Speakers are anonymised. Please ask us if you'd like to see an example.
If you'd like to request using alternative templates, then we'd be happy to discuss this prior to quoting.
Transcripts are transcribed intelligent-verbatim, as standard. Please tell us when requesting a quote if you will require verbatim transcription.
If you'd like regular timestamps included, that would be at additional cost.
Turnaround - we work in a flexible manner to agreed deadlines. Files can be received and returned on an ongoing basis or as a batch.
As a relatively small and busy transcription company, it is best if you can contact us at least a month or so in advance prior to interviewing, to book your project in.
We realise that quiet indoor locations are not always the best option for your interview, but bear in mind that the quieter the location, the better quality of sound and therefore, better, fuller transcript you will end up with.
More frequently interviews are recorded online, this can be a good quality recording, especially when the whole interview is recorded by associated software. Sometimes, however, the interviewer is using a recorder placed next to a speaker - if this is your only option, please ensure it is placed away from the noise of a computer keyboard or writing area.
If recording outside and whilst walking outside, please use an external mic and wind shield, otherwise there may be a lot of distortion on your recording.
Focus/workshops
The most useful thing interviewers can do to help the transcription process is to ask folk to introduce themselves by way of a sentence or two. This helps us identify the voices quickly and correctly, and gives us a passage to refer back to.
Please try your best to ensure the mics are set up to pick up the sound closest to the mic, if recording multiple groups at the same time.
It's good to ask everyone to turn phones to airplane mode, as they can cause interference with recording frequencies.
